No backwards on the Hobie but there is another kayak out there that has that option. The Hobie does turn very quickly so you could get away from the sturgeon easily or get out of any sticky situations without problems.
Ron, wouldn't mind going out with you on one of your trips if you are interested in a tag along. I can pedal my kayak for many miles, even upstream, without much effort at all. Also wouldn't mind trying out the GoPro a little more with the sturgeon. Very few jumpers on the last trip I was on.
