Oh lordy, I had a St. Croix...key word HAD. It was a beginner one and it would make ME switch to spin fishing. TERRIBLE! Even with $100. line[crazy]
But with that said, he did mention $10.[

I am a firm believer to CAST before you buy. Specially a beginner. Beginners really have no idea how many choices are out there and what the right one can feel like till you do.
AND don't settle! If fly fishing isn't made easy with feel and right gear, one will loose interest, or end up using it once in awhile. Anything caught on spinning can be caught on a fly.[]
