Nobody said it wasn't so bad, it was an accident as obviously it wasn't intentional. Shouldn't really have to explain that. How do you know he overloaded the boat? My brother in laws boat you can put 15 people on. Several of these kids were little. We all get the fact that he made a mistake. It's pretty obvious he's suffering enough, he lost his daughter, wife and future daughter in law (if I have it correct). I didn't post this so we can stand all high and mighty and throw stones at anyone. Odds are high he has relatives and friends reading this post. Be a little compassionate as to the incident and the people it has affected.
We are fisherpeople on this board. We all complain about the power squadron doing things which annoy us continuously. I can't imagine what the tubers see on this board deal with when I troll at a mile and a half an hour and almost get nailed in my 18.5 foot deep V. Either way, it happened, it sucks, and I will be buying inflatable PFD's so everyone on the boat has them on at all times which was the point of the post. Wear your PFD, I don't typically, am changing that now.
