Are you sure the new models the deck is connected? Not that it matters as you have already decided..
I have the same frame. I love the idea of two piece. I chose the optional larger rear deck. A piece of 2x4 maybe a foot long and 2 bolts for a motor, something this old woman found very easy to do.
