The outlet channel is different from the rest of the lake. There can be no ice on the lake and be 6" thick in the channel. As far as ice build up you just don't know until you check it out, how long during the day did it get above freezing? it takes a while to melt it back. how long are the cold periods? how much was the wind blowing, alot of stuff effects ice on.
