I think you are too limited buying supplies for a one fly here and there.
I recommend this KIT:

The material is NOT garbage as you will find most the material you buy has the WAPSI name on it. The tools are good with eventually an upgrade of the vise.
Look at the list of flies in this kit. EVERY single one of them is a popular, use anywhere fly.

Or you can tie a bunch of Wooly Buggers.[Smile]
