fly tying

Pick one or two flies that you want to tie and get the materials for them. Look up the fly you choose on YouTube and see how it is tied.

I suggest as the others have said a wooly bugger or leech. Then maybe a few nymphs like a hare's ear.

Look "beginning fly tying" on Youtube there are some great step by step lessons starting out with tools etc.
