It's to windy for crappie fishing out of the tube but something crazy happened.
#1
The family and i stopped by secrete lake [cool] last night for a couple hours and hit quite a few crappie all pretty little. so i figured i would get the float tube out this morning and see if i could find some eaters. well the wind was gusting up to 45 miles an hour at times so i deemed it not safe to float the tube. I opted to fish the same spot we fished the night before. a few casts in with my 1/16 oz jig head with a crappie thunder on the end of it and I hooked something solid. then there was fear....... where i was fishing was very narrow with steep banks and loaded with trees not to mention i was using one of my ultralite crappie setups with 4lb test mono. I had to slide down the bank and stand on a very small portion of dirt so i could lip the bad mama turned out to be the biggest large mouth i have ever landed. (Go figure it was while i was trying for crappie.) I ended up nailing two more nice males in a twenty minute span. after that the crappie turned on for about 30 minutes and i ended up with 6 keepers and a handful thrown back. all the bass went back to be caught another day.
pic of my toad and the others are bellow.
