Parkcenter Pond can be good, but it's definitely not somewhere you would go to get away. It's right downtown and the traffic noise can be annoying. I'd go check it out a few days in advance too, because when I was there at this time last year there was goose crap everywhere. You could hardly find a place to walk without stepping in it, and it was all over the docks in huge piles. Not something you want little kids getting into.
Wilson Ponds would be my suggestion. It gets planted consistently, and they throw leftover fish from other plantings in as well. It's away from the major roads and there are nice paths to walk on. It's a lot more naturalistic with lots of wildlife to watch. There are four ponds (two with trout, one trophy trout pond that's C&R only and a bass/catfish/sunfish pond) so if fish aren't biting on one pond you can try one of the others.
If you don't mind a bit of a drive, you may want to try Cottonwood Campground at CJ Strike. It's supposed to be warm and sunny all next week, which means the crappie and bluegills will be hitting the canal and boat slip area soon. When they're in, it can be fish on every cast. If the fish aren't biting, Brunau Dunes is nearby so the kids can have fun climbing the dunes and there's a lake there with bluegill and some nice bass.
