Re PBH: Wouldn't opening up the inlet to fishing accomplish nearly the same thing?
True, in a sense they would both achieve the same goal. My thoughts are that at least the DWR is trying something. They put out the change (whether it was or wasn't well publicized), they tried to gather information, and at the end of the day they had to do something that they thought would be best for the lake. They made what they felt was the best decision given the data they had.
What if they had not made any changes and left the inlet closed and same regs as last year and continued on with no changes for years to come...Maybe another year or two or even five of great walleye fishing before the lake goes bust again??? Like stated before, sustainability.
