At this point I think the better debat about this issue would be lack of information from the DNR. Where are all the dwr ads/ and information that the DNR is talking about? I'am not talking about the 2012 RAC meetings. .
Did you attend any of the open houses in 2012 to discuss fishing in Utah? More specifically, did you attend either of the Northern Utah open houses the DWR promoted?
they were all very well advertised and promoted.
One of the biggest reasons the DWR started promoting these open houses is because of the lack of interest by anglers in the fishing RAC meetings. Nobody would show up.
At the end of the day, anglers need to take some responsibility and realize that it is up to them to participate and get themselves involved. The DWR cannot force anglers to participate in the decision making process. They cannot reach out to each angler individually and ask their opinion. The DWR cannot submit a poll on every internet fishing forum to make sure those member agree or disagree with decisions. At the end of the day the DWR MUST make some decisions in the BEST interest of the fishery.
This issue is going to turn out to be a blessing in disguise for many of you. Make it positive. If it matters to you, you'll get involved. Involvement is a GOOD thing. Make it a good thing.
Pack -- Drew already answered your question. Harvest was determined to be down. Limits don't make a difference if anglers aren't harvesting them anyway. Increase the limit to 500 per angler -- it won't do any good if anglers continue to only take 2 fish home!
