most shanties do not have any insulation at all.
matter of fact most shanties are nothing more than watter proof canvas.
I have seen qulted canvas that is susposed to have some insulation in the fabric.
all insulation is, is dead air space. it can be trapped by various materials. wood, paper, plastic, ect....
any insulation will work, but truth is, unless you are fishing out of a large wood shack, the small lanterns and portable heaters will roast you out of your portable shanty.
For large wood shanties inner and outer wall made from 2x3 construction and light weight aluminum coated siding insulation is realy all you will need in most any situation. just dont put your foot though the wall when you miss that 50 inch pike.[:p]
but to answer your question, even bubble rap will work as insulation.
