I went steelhead fishing over the weekend, we had a great time! Between two of us we landed 26 on Saturday and Sunday - but the kicker was how big they were! A solid third of our fish were B-run steelies! Incredible! It took us a few hours to figure out what they were hitting since no one around seemed to be doing stellar - but once we did it turned on great for us! We tried the regular standbys: trout beads, black flies, black curly tail grubs, chartreuse egg sucking leeches - none of it was really hitting. Shrimp was the key. Kinda funny. We only landed 1 fish all weekend on the trout beads. Definitely weird.
All the fish were caught between Ebenezer & the Middle Fork, here's a couple photos of the biggest fish we caught - a 33" and a 36". I'm not sure why the fish are so much larger this year - but they definitely are!
