Just a suggestion, try pounding the bottom a couple times and let the jig lay there on the bottom for a bit. I also like to dead stick at times when they are like that. I know when I fished C.J. a couple weeks ago they pretty much wanted the bait dead sticked a couple inches off the bottom, sometimes it would take 5 minutes or so before they would hit it of course up there we could use 5 rods and I would work a pole for a minute or so then move to another rod. These were the jumbos from 11 to 13 inches. Springbuck's suggestion has worked for me in the past as well of using a bell sinker on the bottom with your bait tied 6 inches or so above.
