Twin Lakes
#1
It was a nice day this morning, overcast but not too cold or windy. Great day for a fair weather fisherman like me, with an appetite for bluegills. So I thought I would go and decimate the fish at Twin.... I am ready for fish tacos!

On the way

It is nice to see some snow pack building up, but I could do without the drifts.

I got to Twin and drilled multiple holes in it from 5 ft deep up to 18 ft. (about 24" of ice) Unfortunately I didn't find any fish to slaughter. No fish tacos tonight...[:/]

I don't know where they were hiding. There were 3 other groups on the ice. I don't know if they caught anything or not. They probably did. Ice fishing is just not loving me. I didn't get a bite. I didn't even see a MINNOW on my fish finder. [laugh][laugh][blush]

I had about decide to drill another hole and give it one last shot. Unfortunately I accidentally barely touched the blade with one of my fingers when I was untangling my tow rope from it. Bad move. I can testify that a Nils is VERY sharp.

I really didn't do anything more than a small slice on the end of my finger, but I bleed like a stuck pig. I packed up, and kicked snow over the red stuff so someone didn't think that there was a huge slaughter fest there.

After I got a Sponge Bob band-aid on it, I was all better. So I decided to take a run over to a creek, and see if I could get on it. Yep by plowing, sliding, and postholeing my way through the snow I got on the water. I did look a bit like these deer: (not my photo)

But I made it! Next time I bring my snowshoes!!

The snow was deep, but it was so beautiful out it almost hurt my eyes.

I got a couple of pictures of the creek. They don't begin to do it justice.

I thought the ice that encased the rocks was really cool.

I got one more picture of the creek, and then my battery was done.

Anyway I caught some fish. Sorry no fishy pictures, but I was feeling all better about my fishing again... I could practically feel my head swelling in my stocking hat. Life is good! Then I misstepped and got a good dunking! Dang that water is brisk!

I am thankful that I wear neoprene waders in the winter! .... But do you know how much water a down coat can hold? It's a LOT. It is at least 80lbs worth.

After slogging my way through the deep snow back to my car, I arrive just as a bunch of snowmobilers were loading up. I of course, had snow from head to toe sticking to my wet coat and waders. They didn't say anything, which I thought was very polite of them.. [blush]They may have just been too stunned to say anything. [shocked]

I think we all had a good laugh on the way home! [laugh][laugh]

It was a GREAT day to be out and fishing. Dang I love the adventure of life! [cool]
