I rarely use the area, usually fish strike by boat but this is what I find annoying. All of the improvements were just made because the lease on the dam was up for renewal. We all seen how it has been cleaned up and improved, paving the majority of strike dam road, even the Idaho Power stocked and tagged trout I used to catch every trip.
Now that they have a lease secured again they are kicking the public out. Sure you can use security as an excuse and people will buy it, but when is the last time you heard of a failing earthen dam that didn't fail while being filled the first time. Destroying an earth dam is nearly impossible, not having people by the dam won't prevent anything, having extra eyes would probably be beneficial. A boat full of explosive would be more effective anyways, a surface explosion would just deflect outwards and away. Strategically strike is a low reward for a terrorist group, they'd ruin some farmland and small towns but the snake canyon could handle it all. One last thing, if you are intent on destroying it would a closed area stop you?
