And I agree that there is nothing wrong with a small motor. Awesome benefit is that you can turn that thing down to nothing and it will troll nice and slow, it will sip gas instead of sucking it. But after fishing with a 5 myself, it warrants a little bit more reasonableness in how you fish. Example if you see thunderheads in the distance, or you feel that wind kicking up, you would want to move to where your protected or head off a little sooner than you would with a motor with more h.p...
I went from a new 16 ft.valco wide to a 12.5 gregor and I regret it. My little boat will fit 2 fat boys, sort of. I agree a 14 would probably be just about right.
