That is the first report I have heard of Bucks frames being bad. There are some here going on 20 years and I know my Alpine has been down some very tough roads and still in fantastic shape, but anything is possible and out of 100's sold, I am sure there are one or two problems.
Cool idea on building your own frame.
Throw one more idea in here. The U shaped pontoons are so much more than two single toons. They can handle more weight because of that extra, They will not come off if not secured correctly, they track straight, and are all around more stable.
Also, I am sure the MAJORITY pontooners here buy them for stillwater, not rivers. While most can take most rivers, there are those built for rivers. And while I will be the first to say, they are the way to go for those white waters, They are bulky and very heavy for the quick run to the lake trips.
