My buddy and I hooked up with SDhuntandfish this morning. took a 4 mile four wheeler ride in subzero temperatures in fog that you couldn't see more than four feet in. by the time the ride was done our eyelashes had huge chunks of ice on them. we ended up fishing till 1pm and ended up icing 17 perch a few gigantors but most were just good fat bellied jumbos between 10 and 12 inches. we also caught and released quite a few little guys. ended up with a few trout too. the ice looked to me to be about 12 inches thick although i never officially measured it. i couldnt find any maggots in Lewiston and nothing in mcall or cascade was open when we had to be on the ice so i picked up some gulp alive plastics. 1 inch minnows and their little maggots. they come in little jars with a liquid in it. i saw tom greumwald use them on tv to tip his jigs and what not for perch and he did really well with them so i figured "why not?" well they work!
I would have had some pictures of the gigantors but i left my phone in my buddy's pickup and cant get ahold of him.
hopefully i will see some of you down there for the tackle toms tournament.
