#4
I had to make my own combo's

I own 3,

Shimano Quick Fire Reels
Sport Fisher Tellicopic Rods 5'6"

the one not shown has a revercable handle to turn in to a fly rod. aka 2 pc tellicopic.

criteria,
[ul][li]it must fit in the glove box, [/li][li]it must be large enough to handle a 15lb carp from time to time. [/li][li]the reel must have the quick fire triger for casting,[/li][li]the reel must be rated for 4-8lb line with spare spools [/li][li]they must have good life expectancy[/li][li]the spools need to have a line notch, mostly used when the spool is off the rod.[/li][li]dial drag in the rear[/li][li]the battle drag leaver is a nice option if you can find it, it helps to go from slip to the full pre-set tention by the throw of the leaver[/li][/ul]
I have owned all three of my tellicopic rods for 35+ years, they have held up well. I paid $2.35 for each rod.

I have replaced the reels on two of them 20 years ago, for second reels I went with the shimano quick fire.

I have landed 20+lb carp with this combo along with enough gills and panfish to feed an army.

I still have the original fly reel.

These are my main every day go to rods and reels because they fit in to my tackle box and it is grab and go.

they fit well in to my back pack along with a pocket size tackle pouch.

the only down side.
I have had to re-glue a couple of the eyelets back in to place, but that is due to my slaming the rod sections in hard. That is my fault and not the rods.

one of the unique things about my setup is the laughs I get from other anglers is when I pull my rods out of the box and with a flick of my rist I have my rod extended..[laugh]
