I don't mind that people come here from Utah to fish. I am totally fine with that. I sometimes fish Utah myself.
The out of state fees really help our F&G fund. Our F&G is funded ONLY from license and tag fees. That is why our licenses may cost more than another state's. Idaho F&G does not get any of the general tax funds, so every license sold is important to help fund our fishing and hunting.
I don't even mind tournaments in general, but I think they should stick to larger lakes to have them. How about American Falls, Salmon Falls Cr Res, or Walcott.
I don't like the whole idea of holding a tournament on some of the smaller lakes like Devils and Chesterfield. This year especially since Chesterfield in at a low water level. Yes, Chesterfield may still LOOK really big, but much of that water is very shallow.
It is just my opinion, but I feel a tournament on a small lake especially on a low water year does damage the fishery. No, it won't completely kill ALL the fish, but I think it does raise the mortalities to a much higher level.
I just hoped that some of you cared about the continuing fishery of Chesterfield and not just about a one time contest for profit.
