I have to say that I simply don't buy the "morning bite" theory. I have caught fish during every hour of the day, and I can honestly say, IMHO, that there isn't a "best time". My brother and I slaughtered Cutties on the Berry about a month ago from 3:00pm to 6:00pm -- easily the best day I've ever had on that lake, and I've been fishing it for 20 years. I love pulling into my favorite place to find all the cars either gone or in the process of leaving -- more water for me.
I'm sure there is some sort of scientific explanation to back up the whole "early bite" thing, just like there is probably something to the whole "lunar bite" -- but I'm just not seeing it.
Then again, I don't mind fishing 15 hours straight without a bite -- it's still amazing just to be able to get out and enjoy the clean air and beautiful scenery.
