It is a great pattern and a killer tie.
As you mentioned, you are a beginner, so I offered some advise.
The thing is with fly tying, is it all has a reason. The right hook for the job, the right material. Some material may look the same, but does it change colors when wet, does it absorb or repel water. Even the right feather is important.
When tying someone elses pattern, I try to copy everything other wise I might not get the right effect costing hook-ups on fish. Left with the feeling, this pattern doesn't work. That is all I am trying to put on the table.
Using the right material, but in different colors or different size is different. That is a must in my book.
