Caught another big one out of Echo Bay 12/9/2012
#31
Just some further information re: striper reproduction. The size of the fish is directly related to the amount of eggs produced therefore a larger striper will create way more small (initially) stripers and possibly overpopulate a water with small fish which could create stunted fish. I believe the "genes" discussion has some merit but might be more related to LMB's than stripers, but it's all in how you look at it I guess.

From Mass. Division of Marine Fisheries -

"The number of eggs produced by a female striped bass is directly related to the size of its body; a 12-pound female may produce about 850,000 eggs, and a 55-pound female about 4,200,000 eggs."
