Interesting... My wife and I were at the lake sunday evening thru today (wednesday). We only fished monday and tuesday. I took a measuring tape and measured the ice so we weren't guessing. We stayed at Wild rose and fished about 50 to 100 yards out from the boat dock. The ice was 4 inches. We stayed away from the pressure ridge. Depth was 12 feet. Fishing was decent, but nothing to brag about. We went over to Goose Bay for the afternoon and the ice was 7 and 8 inches thick depending on where you drilled. The water depth was 16 feet. My wife caught 2 chubs. Fishing was okay again. Nothing of any size. The largest we caught was 17 inches. Went back to the state park and spent the day Tuesday. Wind blew all day and was 24 degrees. Fishing was slow and we landed about 10. Ice was 7 inches thick everywhere we drilled. Went to lunch and came back around 3 and stayed till dark. I drove my snow mobile out on the ice to the tent when we came back. Decided 7 inches was plenty thick. Someone had been on the ice a couple of days before with an atv. We could see the tracks. Ice was hard and firm. This morning when we left, it was snowing. The snow was very wet. It was a good day to not be fishing. All in all, the trip was nice. We stayed at the Wild Rose. Nice place. The ice was thickest towards the east end and thinnest at the West. We saw no open water except at Wild Rose where the creek emptied into the lake at the boat dock.
