Towed the boat out for a second time Friday. 100% to the "T" same fuel usage. Down to the tenth of a gallon via the onboard computer. 12mpg. Cruise set at 55mph on Lakeshore to Echo and back (128 mile round trip from the house).
Added a front lower grill to the truck. IMO totally crazy that Ford doesn't put one on it. I can see getting maximum airflow to the intercooler but there should be some protection. Anything smaller than a football can fly into the big opening on the bumper and take the intercooler out. I believe $40 well spent.
Just got back from a drive down to Arizona. With the Powerball getting up there I got sent on my way. Both of the daughters in tow so the wifey had the house to herself this morning/afternoon. Anyways 160 mile round trip from the NW end of town down to the gas station at exit 27 in AZ with a side trip down to Willow Beach on the way back. Cruise set at 70 the entire way, minus the bridge area, etc that I had to run a pinch slower. On the slow side for me since I like to be cruising with the crowd and don't mind 75-85 at all but wanted to see. Pretty impressed. 19mpg. On a 4x4 super crew with 3.73 gears it doesn't get any better. Zero wind so that helped.
On the downside I thought for a second to grab a rod for the heck of it and didn't... Thinking back to the last couple times over the past several years that I have been down there we got skunked from the shore. Anyways, we drove down to Willow and looked around off the fishing pier for something to do plus my youngest doesn't get out in the outdoors as much as the oldest. There was 1.5-2 pound rainbows all over the place and then the occasional bigger one. I was mad and Madi was even madder at me for not grabbing any rods. She wanted me go back home and get some rods asap. lol Next time I get sent off to AZ there will be rods and gear in the truck for a side trip!
