Idaho Sturgeon Fishing
#9
I have to tell you the rest of the story about catching the 9 footer. It shows you what a great son I have. My son had the hot pole the whole trip. Friday he caught a couple of 7 footers and then an 8 footer. After he caught the 8 footer I thought that I should tell him to cut off a few feet of line and re-jig but I am getting old and it slipped my mind. Not long after that he got a few taps on his pole and he offered me his pole....I accepted and the fight was on. It was BIG as it pulled the boat up and down the river...then broke off. I was a little disappointed.
We went back to our spot and my son got a few more taps and he offered me his pole. Again I accepted. The fight is on again. When we would get a fish on we pull up the anchors so as not to get tangled up with them. In the mean time this fish is pulling off line in a hurry. I tell my son to start the motor so we can follow the fish.....I forgot the motor is out of the water !! By the time the engine is going I am out of line and staring at the knot that is holding the line to the spool !! The fish is pulling the boat and I am hoping a put a good knot around that spool !!
I don't know how I will ever have a better fishing trip than that one...Thanks again Joe for going with me !!!
