"Safe" is a relatve term. There are spots that are okay to wade right now, but be careful. Flows at the southfork can change quickly, and holes that may not seem deep can be bottomless. Use the buddy system and use a life jacket whenever possible.
Another reccomendation from a bad experience this spring on the salmon river is wear your wading belt. My feet were swept out under me crossing a shallow but swift corner and I came very close to drowning. My waders had what felt like an extra 100 lbs of water and I had to crawl to shore. SCARY!!
