Many many people nationwide consider them sport fish, not trash. Their meat is sold in stores and restaraunts because of it's mild flavor. They would help cut down on the numbers of truly prolific fish in our area such as squawfish and carp. In fact if you get close enough to Oregon you can get a bounty for catching squawfish because they are so destructive to other desirable fish populations. You would be hard pressed to find an area where there is a bounty on catfish.
