Catfishing in the Magic Valley
#21
That is why I said the Snake River from Bell Rapids to Lower salmon dam. Dog Creek has the heat I think but needs more structure. One thing we don't see in those smaller habitats are the under water nesting spots like muskrat dens and beaver holes.
In my opinion the hatchery cat's are triploids. I have proof that triploid cats are produced in some hatcherys. No one can find out if Leo Rays cats are triploids. At least that is what Doug Megargle has said. In my opinion I think cats are just getting the back burner treatment.
Lake Lowell has had thousands of hatchery cats planted there and the F&G claim there is no Natural Recruitment. So there is Breeding going on on the river a few miles away but the lake cats can't. That seems "fishy" to me. Lake Lowell is no small habitat. Ron
