I guess ideally you would want barbs on the shank or something threaded for your eyes. Finding something small and light enough that is threaded may be a tough one tho and finding something with barbs may not be easy either. I guess both could be found online somewhere.
Cutting hooks down and using the shanks should work if you used epoxy on the shank before inserting it. Clean up the epoxy that oozes out with denatured alcohol or acetone. I would use epoxy even if I found something threaded or barbed. You can get clear, black, or white epoxy. The clear will yellow over time so you do want to wipe it off for sure. Small packs of it are 5-8 bucks or so at the hardware stores.
Yeah, make sure and show us what you end up with. No reason it won't work. Before you know it you will need to streamline things and get a little factory set up for the Condie Miracle Rap. Keep the jobs here and don't outsource them. [
