I don't plan to put the gas motor on the outcast frame again. I just don't think they can take that kind of load the gas motor puts out.
I know you have landed large trout. But do you personally know of anyone that has landed a sturgeon in a X5? Leaning over the side to get to them is the problem The small ones are 50 to 75 pounds. The big ones are going to be 200 plus. There is no room to work on one from the side. Between the tubes you run the fish on its back on to your legs and then you lift with the legs to give you the ability to work on getting the hook out. Over the side you got the oars, the bags, there is so much stuff on the side it makes it almost impossible in my opinion to land a sturgeon on the side. I would like to see it done.
I am talking to the people at steelheader.com about a boat. They are plenty strong enough, open end tubes and 85 pounds. The problem I see with them is the seat might be too high for effective use of fins. Ron
