I will answer you here Ron so that others can read this. Outcast is sending you a new frame, any ideas what you will do different to prevent this from happening again?

As for the X5. Can you run it with the motor in the U? Obviously, you will not be able to kick the motor up. It becomes a ZODIAK. You mentioned landing big fish from the closed ends- people do it all the time from boats, depends on what you get use to.
I have been using my Assault a lot and after quick adjusting I find land BIG fish to the side is not that hard. In some cases, easier as they do not get tangled in feet.
Just a matter of adjusting.

Also, on the X5, you have a standing deck. This becomes a floor in the closed end allowing much more moving around. But, then you can slide it back and use fin power for finesse. You can also add an electric motor to the front of the frame, and the battery is no weight problem.
