No the frame didn't slide when it broke, it cant slide when the straps are tight. I slid the boat off the trailer and into the water. I then sat on it and started to kick off. That is when it broke.
I have been doing a lot of thinking about the breakage. I added the motor mount to have adjust ability and a stiffer mounting system

The action of the boat under power would cause the motor and frame to thrust down. At that point the back pontoons would thrust out and up like bending your arm at the elbow and raising the elbow. After the thrust of the motor was let off the whole thing went back into place. This would work harden the metal much like bending a wire until it breaks. I can see why it broke in so many places. To be honest I blame it mostly on the motor mount and the power of the motor both caused be me.
I have some thinking to do on this. I see the X5 as the better of the two by far for running the river with a gas motor. I can not see how to land a sturgeon with the closed bow. It would be almost impossible in my opinion. I also like to fish vertically for catfish at times. This would be a problem with the closed bow. Could the frame be turned so the seat faces out to the open end and the motor put on in the hole between the seat and the closed end? If so would the 15" shaft length work or would going in reverse cause the mounting deck to lift causing the motor to cavitate? Wow a lot of questions. I wish I had some one close to see one and go through some options. Ron
