Deadwood 6/18 -19
#9
Yum! Avery looks happier to be in the boat catching, than to be on the shore cleaning the fish! [:p][laugh][laugh]

I am going to try to get a few Kokenee on the fly this year if possible. Deadwood is too far from here, and I have a lot to learn yet before I can even think about trying.

Do you mind if I ask how deep the kokes were, and what colors and size work best? PM if you would prefer. Thanks!
They were right on the top from sun up to 10 am and then they started to sink down. You could have caught them on a fly no problem. By late afternoon we needed 3/4 to 1 oz of weight to stay in them. Started off using typical Kok gear but soon found we didn't need any flash. Just ran Wedding Rings and all colors seemed to work. Just needed 1/2 inch or less of worm and two kernels of shoepeg corn and they would hit it. I do think the red one with the bronze blade out fished the others but not by much. I should also mention we lost two hogs and both were on a chartreuse WR. Seen one of them come out and tail walk a few times before breaking the line. It was a good 6 lb fish but could only see the silhouette because of the sun but I'm guessing a Cutt.
