Pyramid Lake, NV 6-10 thru 6-12
#1
Took last week off and headed north 450 miles to Pyramid Lake. Got there Sunday 6-10 at 7am, bought permits and launched the boat. Made camp north of Sutcliff about 12 miles in the only wooded area on the lake. Fished all day Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The weather was amazing, wind reached only 5 mph all three days were were there. We trolled and jigged. We trolled with all kinda of lures, the most productive were flatfish, apex and a sexy swimmer. Jigging produced more fish with a 3/4 oz to 1 oz football head jigs with black or blue skirts. First day 35+ fish, second day 40+ fish and last day 50+ fish. The average size of fish was 20" about 2 lbs. The biggest was a 10 lber on a blue jig, that had a 8 inch chub sticking out of his mouth. Great days of fishing, haven't been up there in ten years. We slaughtered them. I read the reports before heading up and was fearful that the reports said 4-5 fish per day per angler. We averaged 15 fish per person per day. I used to fish this lake every weekend when I lived in Reno, an awesome lake. Only kept four the whole trip, which we ate.
