Honestly it depends on the day, situation, and temperament of those involved. I like my room and will let others know that they are in my bubble. I don't own the water and can only receive the respect I give to others. Some people just don't care and will crowd you out regardless. I have literally had people cast right over my line and cussed me out when I informed them of their stupidity. Places like Henry's never cease to amaze me how comfortable people feel fishing right next to you. I once asked a gentleman, (I use the term gentleman loosely) if he wanted me to cast for both of us. I just observed that the pocket I was fishing was better fished from my angle than his and we wouldn't have to worry about getting tangled. Selfish I know, but come on it wasn't like I was putting up numbers. Anyways, we have to share the water with all types and I know from experience, it doesn't pay to be rude on either side.
