R-Dog - Yes, by removing butt section you "soften" the presentation. If'in you think about it what you are really doing is creating a 7-ft - 6x tapered leader. Assuming of course you started with a 9-ft 6x. Now granted you have reduced the max weight of the leader, too. Ultimately, it comes down to presentation.

I think that is what Flygoddess was describing, too. There are many paths to get from point A to B. I think that furled leaders have merit in this subject. I have no knowledge of Tenkara so... I have thought about it but I really do not think I need more gear..,. LOL
