Spanish fort/cannons in daniels canyon

I know that area has changed some since that story was written and if it is where I think that they are talking about there is a road all the way up to the top of that draw from when they were in there logging and it seems like that road circles around and drops you out behind those houses that are on the other side of the road fron the summit lodge. I have lived just outside of the mouth of Daniels Canyon for my entire 41 years and have never head of a fort or cannons up there but you never know.
