Quick Oneida/Condie run
#1
Set out to try and pick up some straggler walleye before they were back to the norm at Oneida this morning. Got the first cast off at about 6:30 and started hooking up with smallies that were all about the one pound mark. Though I know most of you have been jazzed about getting the smallies I keep getting bummed that I am not catching any walleye yet this year. I ended up catching 7 small mouth, 2 trout and 1 sucker that was about 6 pounds. When I had that sucker I thought for sure I had a nice female walleye on but luck of the draw handed me a large turd.

Since I seemed to be able to pick up the bass, I figured I would stop by Condie since nobody has had much luck there and just see if things had picked up. With only one boat making its way around the far shore I figured I would hug the first arm of the lake and try my luck. Nothing seemed to work out of my arsenal except for a chartuese spinner bait in the shallows. All though I never got into a big hog like I had hoped, the little 8 inchers were slamming that bait and getting acrobatic after being hooked. After about 2 hours I was able to pick up 10 that were all about the same 8 in size. Could see alot of cloudy dirt marks around the edges but couldnt see any fish actually sitting in them so it at least looks as though things should be picking up. Felt good to actually be out in some decent weather and catch a few fish.
