Being from MD and fishing for stripers since I have been little I have a few suggestions that may help. One thing that I think would work great for stripers in a river would be an Alabama rig. MD VA DC and NJ have been using umbrella rigs for years to catch stripers 50lbs and up. Alabama rigs are just down sized umbrella rigs. Another suggestion for casting lures is a BKD. BKDs are a lure created by a charter boat captain here an MD and have taken off all over the country. They are very sucessful when it comes to catching stripers.
