Didn't start out thinking I was going to fish today, but like any good fisherman, the fly rod is always loaded in the car when I leave the house.
I was able to get my "chores" done by noon, so I headed up to the river.
I started out nymphing, and soon tired of catching whitefish and smaller browns( I did get a couple in the 16" range and one fat 19"er) so I switched over to streamers.
The water was about 4" lower than last week, and still pretty clear, so I wasn't too sure of how the streamers would do...it didn't take long for me to find out- I landed 10 on various patterns(losing a few flies along the way, I'd have to change, and rarely do I have more than 1 of each pattern). It didn't seem to matter too much.
At one point I was refishing the area that I had nymphed through, and hooked a fat 19"er....it was the same fish I had caught earlier- and he still had my dropper/weights attached to his side(that I hadn't realized were still attached until I released him, and went to re-cast.)
I fished til 8:45 and landed close to 40 fish...I'd call that a GOOD DAY!
