SUBMOA is Sub minute of angle - it's a unit of measurement. One minute of angle at one hundred yards is approximately one inch. Sub minute of angle is less than one inch at one hundred yards. Typically a firearms term, if you shoot under one MOA you're shooting less than one inch groups at 100, less than two inch groups at 200 etc etc. Also used to describe the capability of a rifle by manufacturers such as this rifle is guaranteed to shoot one MOA 5 shot groups at 100 yds with Fed 168 gr Match ammo (gun is guaranteed to shoot 5 shot groups under 1"). Turrets on many rifles are in 1/4 or 1/2 MOA adjustments for windage and elevation. If you need to adjust your scope you can dial it up simply by doing the math from where your group is hitting to zero your rifle or adjust it to hit targets at different distances. Hope that makes sense, I could discuss it further in more technical terms but I have had no coffee yet this morning and this is probably confusing enough.
Great post by the way, I'm sick of reading all the bickering which has taken over the board lately.
