Thanks for that PDF TubeDude. That is an amazing amount of information in there. Definitely have my wheels turning now.
And thanks all for the welcome.
Made it out this morning, 3/14/12, for my first trip of the season and with the new ride. On the water at 8:45am. About 64 degree air temp. Water was colder, my guess in the very low 50's. Partly cloudy and a little breezy.
Worked my normal and familiar way around my launch site. Got a little LMB, about 12inches, to go for the Xrap at about 9:05. Lots of fish chasing bait and causing surface commotion. I'm guessing white bass and crappie, getting ready for the spawn, with a larger model mixed in every now and then.
15 minutes later working the same general area with the jerk bait I had a good hit. Felt like a larger model on the line this time. After a nice little fight landed a 2.64lb LMB. Not very long, but what a chunk. I don't know where he planned on putting my bait, as he already had 2 tail fins sticking out of his throat.
The wind really kicked up after that, steady 20mph and gusting to almost 30. I darted around to a few move coves for 1 more short bite on a texas rigged plastic worm. And one more LMB about 13 inches on the Xrap.
Off the water at 12:15 to get the kid from school. Great first day and the new ride is a night and day difference from my old one. Hope to make it back out tomorrow.
Here's some fish porn...
