I do part time work for Marsh valley hydro. And to speak from first hand there is no other form of power generation that could match hydro on efficiency! I mean even though the plant I help maintenance is on a super small scale in comparison but even when the water levels are low it still produces a substantial amount of power. Not to mention them turbines create a very good environment for fish below the dam at the turbines outlet. Makes for well oxygenated water.
