One thing I see missing from this discussion is that the bass have lived in the Snake River and its tributaries since the 1890s. Salmon and steelhead seemed to be doing fine for many years after that.

I also wonder how long an animal has to be present before it is considered "native". If we were to get rid of all the "non natives" here in Idaho we'd all have to move out. As well as all the chukars, pheasants, California valley quail, brown trout, and on and on.

I really think the changes that are taking place are just the evolution of Idaho, our wildlife, and this country. Fishermen arguing among themselves just plays into the hands of those that are trying to end all fishing and hunting. Enjoy it while you can.
