Totally agree with Chrome,

If by default we all were allowed to fish 5 poles on softwater, it would be a mess....could you imagine Henry's opening day and everyone setting out 5 poles!
And you think it couldn't get any crazier then it is now.....

On the hard deck you have more room to go out setup accessing the iced over lake surface area, and your line shouldnt interfere with others(staight down, no drifting)....assuming you arent fishing too close to another hole...
