I live on the east side of the state so I have very little experience with most of the areas over there.
Many of the smaller reservoirs over there are mostly warm water fish.
First I would check out the ponds in town, if you want a quick trip.
Further out look at the ponds in Emmett and some of the other towns.
Then there are the larger reservoirs above Boise. Just pick a small area on one of them and explore it.
Mountain Home has a reservoir.
Swan Falls Reservoir.
CJ Strike has some good areas that you can float tube. Most are bass and bluegill, but I have fished Cove Arm and Crane Falls Lake there from a tube. Be careful of the main lake if the wind is blowing.
Horseshoe Bend has a pond.
Pick a water and look at the stocking information on the Fish and Game page.
