Trailer Wheel Allignment?
#7
Tony,

Yes, my trailer axil is "V" shaped (slightly) as are most boat trailer axils. The "V" has nothing to do with the "V" shaped hull of the boat. It has something to do with alignment.

I would be very sceptable about taking your trailer to a trailer supply, even if they build and repair trailers in their shop. I took mine to TJ's trailer supply and their solution was to replace axel with a heaver one, alter other spension, wheels, and tires, etc.. $$$$$

I was telling my woes to a good friend of mine who said to go get the trailer BEFORE they touch it. He, like Petty4life above, recomended TDS (Tire Distribution Systems) of Ogden. Man I am glad I did. TDS did an absolutely wonderful job all for about $80!

TDS puts the trailer (with the boat on it) on some allignment measuring equipment. They take computerized "before" and "after" measurements. They use some fancy hydrolic equipment to form the axil back into proper specifications. I was way impressed. And yes, they did fix my existing trailer axil alignment problems.

They said that it is very normal for trailers to need to have their axils alignment adjusted after a few years of heavy use.

Again, I was very impressed their quality, price, and turnaroud time (about 2 hours).
