Connecticut may allow charitable donations in lieu of hunting, fishing fines
#1
HARTFORD — State legislators are considering a bill that would allow for charitable donations instead of fines for hunting and fishing violations.

The bill is being reviewed by the state’s Environment Committee. It would allow violators to make charitable contributions to two state programs aimed at enforcing fish and game laws instead of paying fines.

The Turn In Poachers program offers rewards for information on poaching and other violations. The Lobster Restoration Program works to grow and protect the state’s lobster population
